Stitch Fix Review - December 2016
This was my very FIRST Stitch Fix experience and I have to say... it was pretty fun!
Stitch Fix is a monthly styling subscription service. When you sign up, you fill out a fairly lengthy survey about your sizes, your style, and your pricing preferences. You pay $20.00 to have 5 items shipped to you. If you keep all five items, you get a 25% discount off the total. If you keep only some of the items, the $20.00 is credited towards your purchase. If you don't keep anything, you lose your $20.00, but it actually pays for the shipping, both ways.

Each Stitch Fix is specially curated for the client, so keep in mind that each person's Stitch Fix will look completely different.

As a special promotion, Stitch Fix decided to put a "Golden Ticket" in every box for a chance to win a Stitch Fix Gift Card. (I didn't not win... Sigh.) And as an added bonus, for every box you receive in December, you are entered into a drawing to win $5,000 for a year's worth of Stitch Fix! Double the Christmas fun!
This is my invoice sheet. It lists each item and it's price as well as the discount I’d receive by keeping all 5 items. With the 25% discount and my $20 styling fee factored in, this box would cost me a total of $209.50 to keep everything – an average of $41.90 per item - and a total discount of $76.50.
Each box comes with cards with styling suggestions for every piece, plus a little note from your stylist.
Hi Nikki, welcome to the Stitch Fix family! I'm Laura, your personal stylist, here to help you look and feel your best. I am starting you off today with a great pair of jeans. The Lila Ryan jeans have a bootcut that I know you prefer. They are constructed of a cotton-spandex blend fabric to keep you comfy all day long. I selected them for you in a petit size to make sure the length was correct. Let me know how they work out. Pair them with the NYTT cross back top for a casual look. Add some edge to your ensemble with the Coffeeshop faux suede jacket. The clean lines of this jacket are so chic. Complete your look with the Octavia infinity scarf for extra warmth and style points. Enjoy all your new looks! Best, Laura.
Lila Ryan - August Bootcut Jean: Cost to keep $98.00
I really liked these jeans! They looked great when I put them on - they had a great quality feel to them! Unfortunately, they were a tad to small in the waist and a tad too short in the length. My stylist, Laura, sent me a size smaller than I had specified and they were petite - I never selected petite in my style survey...
This black and grey top was pretty comfy, and it looked pretty good on. It just wasn't my style, I felt like I was wearing a maternity shirt. Don't get me wrong, I like shirts that are kinda loose around the middle, but I think this one was a little much.
I was pleasantly surprised by this shirt. It is super comfy and it fit very well. It is very similar to a baseball tee with the 3/4 sleeves. Not exactly something I would put in my winter collection, but I can definitely use it in other seasons. While I would not normally pay $48.00 for a shirt like this, I hate to lose my $20.00 styling fee. I am keeping this shirt.
Even though the suede on this jacket reminded me of my mom's style in the 80's and early 90's, I really liked it! It fit well, it felt good, and it seems to be high quality! Too bad I literally JUST bought a black leather jacket in almost this same style...
Octavia - Sandra Abstract Print Infinity Scarf: Cost to keep $38.00
I LOVE this scarf! It is so soft and warm and fuzzy! I did not keep it though because after wrapping it around twice, it was too big and bulky for me.
All in all, for our first go-round, this Stitch Fix wasn't too bad. It will take a few tries before my stylist understands my stlye. It seems appropriate that there will be a bit of back-and-forth before we get it right. Overall, I am very pleased with my first Stitch Fix experience! Stay tuned, I have another box coming soon - I tried to get another one scheduled before December is over so I can have another chance to win the Gift Card ;)
